Motor oil manufacturer in the US, Universal Lubricants has introduced its ECO ULTRA retail motor oil packed in a sustainable, flexible stand-up pouch FlexPak. The pouch is made using a polyethylene barrier that provides burst and seal strengths required for the rigors of oil.
The company has collaborated with US-based Star Packaging, which produces the three-layer ECO ULTRA FlexPak, and the Innovative Packaging Network, which engineered the pour-spout that puts off the conventional glugs and bubbles from bottles that cause splatters and spills.
Star Packaging business development manager Brian Votaw said flexible plastic containers are the hottest packaging trend these days.
"Initial research shows that mechanics and service technicians prefer the FlexPak to the bottle and we believe consumers will too," Votaw said.
The new durable FlexPak offers an easier and cleaner way to the consumers to change their oil, giving retailers an opportunity to bring customers a new product in an environmentally responsible package.
According to the company, flexible pouches require less raw material to manufacture and can reduce landfill waste once drained and flattened.
