Job Description
The Mountain Terrace is a unique, special event venue, located in Woodside on the San Francisco Peninsula. www.themountainterrace.com. The Mountain Terrace holds events from 10-250 people including weddings, corporate meetings, social gatherings and team building. We are looking for a Catering Chef/Kitchen Manager to handle all aspects of menu development and food preparation for our onsite and off-site catering business. This is a part-time, salaried position (approximately 24 hours/week) to start with the potential of full time with benefits after 3 months for the right candidate.
As the Kitchen Manager and Catering Chef, the candidate will create all catering menus, conduct menu tastings, order all food and kitchen supplies, maintain kitchen equipment and cleanliness standards, manage kitchen and janitorial staff. The candidate must have at least 2+ years of full service, high volume Restaurant/Kitchen Management experience with hands-on experience with food inventories and a good understanding of all the factors that impact food costs. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining budgeted food and labor costs. Candidate must have a proven track record of producing consistent, high quality food that is locally sourced whenever possible and produced within budget. Candidate should have a clear understanding of how to run a kitchen with experience in timing and effectively coordinating with front of house managers and staff during events.
Responsibilities include but aren?t limited to the following:
? Menu development
? Food preparation
? Recruiting and maintaining kitchen staff as needed including payroll
? Food ordering, supply ordering, inventory management
? Maintain kitchen organization- pantry, walk-in, freezer, shelving, and cleanliness of kitchen
? Coordination and timing of food for all events
? Maintaining food cost within budget
? Collaborating with managers effectively during events and staff meetings
? Attend weekly staff meetings
Required Skills:
? Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years catering experience for events of 20 to 250 people
? Executive chef experience preferred, but would consider Sous Chef with ordering, staffing and leading events experience
? Culinary degree or equivalent experience
? Results-driven with positive and upbeat attitude
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
? Must be proficient with computer skills: Excel and Microsoft Word or equivalent
? Will be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
? Must have transportation to Woodside, CA
